The Artitaya Golf & Resort Kanchanaburi, formerly known as Nichigo Golf Resort & Country Club, is nestled along the River Kwai Yai, just 30 minutes north of the provincial capital. The course is set against a stunning backdrop of jungle-covered, rugged hills and features holes lined with tall, mature trees, along with numerous water hazards, including small lakes.

This 27-hole course offers a challenging layout divided into the Lake, River, and Mountain Courses, each providing a unique experience. The River Course is notable for its two distinct bridges. At the par-3 3rd hole, an ivy-draped, jungle-style rope bridge connects the tee box across a water hazard to the green below. The par-4 6th hole offers a picturesque moment with a replica of the famous “Bridge over the River Kwai.” The iconic river only becomes visible along the dog-leg of the par-5 4th hole.

The Lake Course is aptly named for its par-4 3rd hole, which wraps around a small lake, and the par-3 4th hole, where the lake challenges players from tee to green. After these, the course transitions into a gently rolling, wooded parkland, with minimal water hazards. The more demanding Mountain Course requires precision as it winds over sloping terrain, occasionally bordered by a meandering creek, and offers some of the most breathtaking views of the limestone hills.

Once considered one of the must-play courses in the River Kwai area, Artitaya Golf & Resort has unfortunately seen better days. While the conditions, facilities, and service are adequate, they don’t stand out. The clubhouse and restaurant are quite basic, so it’s advisable to bring your supplies and plan to eat elsewhere after your round.

Despite its current state, Artitaya Golf & Resort Kanchanaburi remains a fun option for golfers in the Kanchanaburi area. Bring your smartphone to capture the surrounding scenery and course landmarks, and enjoy the experience without overly critiquing the course itself.
