The Siam Country Club Waterside Course, designed by IMG, hosted the 2022 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, granting the winner entry to the US Masters. Unlike the hillier Siam Country Club Old and Plantation Courses, this course features gently sloping terrain. Spanning 200 acres, the golfer-friendly course matches the championship quality and 5-star experience of its renowned neighbors.
The Waterside Course emphasizes environmental waste areas and straightforward holes. Its strategic design incorporates several lakes and creeks, offering challenges for all skill levels. The back tees stretch over 7,400 yards, providing a tough test for top golfers, while shorter tees down to 5,000 yards ensure an enjoyable game for everyone.
The fairways are covered with the latest Paspalum grass, and the greens are made of ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. Water borders the last three holes of each nine, and all greens are level with the fairways, making approach shots more manageable.
Among the standout holes is the 17th, a 600-yard par-5 that allows long hitters to cut across a dogleg left over water to reach the green in two. Shorter hitters can take a challenging layup shot over a deep ravine to reach the green in regulation. The lone tree left of the green serves as a useful target for layup shots.
The final hole is a memorable finishing hole, winding around a large lake in front of the clubhouse. This 420-yard par-4 is particularly tough when playing into the prevailing winds, often determining the outcome of the round with the rare birdie possible, though bogeys or worse are more common.
The Waterside clubhouse features a modern, contemporary design with comprehensive facilities. It offers a 180-degree view of the surrounding valley, allowing golfers to admire how the course, lakes, creeks, and landscaping blend with the natural land formations.
The clubhouse includes a well-stocked pro shop, excellent locker rooms and changing areas, and a top-quality restaurant serving Thai and international cuisine, contributing to an exceptional overall experience. An 18-hole putting course next to the clubhouse, available for a small fee, provides a fun way to settle bets. The practice green is conveniently located near the starting area between the first and tenth holes.
The dedicated staff, well-trained caddies, and first-class operations ensure a delightful experience at Siam Waterside for all golfers in Pattaya.
